We only collect what we need to run the app for you. We don't sell your data, and we don't show ads. Your recipes and photos are yours.
What we collect. Your email address (when you sign in to sync, via a passwordless magic link or a password/Google sign-in you choose); your app content and preferences (favourites, weekly plan, settings and any recipes and photos you add); and basic technical data needed to serve the site.
How we use it. To save and sync your recipes, favourites, plans and photos, to sign you in, and to keep the service secure. Lawful bases under UK GDPR: performing our contract with you and our legitimate interest in keeping the app running and secure.
Who we share it with. Trusted processors acting on our instructions: Supabase (database, sign-in, photo storage, EU-hosted), Netlify (hosting), Google (only if you choose "Continue with Google", to confirm your email and name), Anthropic (only if you use "scan a recipe", to read the text from your photo, not used to train models under our API terms), Pepesto (only if you build a shopping basket), and Stripe (card payments; we never see or store your full card details).
Google sign-in. If you sign in with Google, we receive only your email address, name and profile picture, used solely to create and identify your account. We do not access any other Google data. You can revoke this at any time in your Google Account under third-party access.
Your rights. You can access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and object to or restrict some processing. Email hello@sparrowskitchen.com and we'll respond within one month. You can also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
Cookies. We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. We use your device's local storage and a sign-in token, both essential to the app working.
Recipes, allergies and food safety. Recipes and any calorie, dietary or "gluten-free"/"vegan" labels are general guidance, prepared with care but not guaranteed. Always check ingredient labels yourself and take responsibility for allergens, dietary needs and safe food preparation, especially for anyone with an allergy or intolerance. Nutrition figures are estimates; cooking times and temperatures are guidance, use your own judgement and check food is properly cooked.
Your own recipes and photos. Content you add stays in your private account. By adding it you confirm you have the right to use it and let us store and show it back to you across your devices. Don't upload other people's copyrighted material.
Subscription. The Sparrows Kitchen is free to use. An optional Plus subscription (£2.99 / month or £24.99 / year) lets you add and scan your own recipes, keep a private recipe box, and sync across your devices; one subscription covers your household. Payment is taken via Stripe. Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel; cancel any time and keep access to the end of the paid period. Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT, and may change with notice.
Availability & liability. We work to keep the app running but provide it "as is" and can't guarantee it's always available or error-free. To the extent allowed by law we're not liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses; nothing limits liability that can't be limited by law. This doesn't affect your statutory consumer rights.
